The Holy Grail on Pet Odors!

Like a few pet owners, odors from the litter box has to be the biggest embarrassment for any pet owner - next to a flatulent labrador retriever that is. One day was browsing the usual spots and NOSE Offense was spotted. Curious, I wondered over to their site, watched the funny parody video, and took in some of Marvin Rembo's videos using Nose Offense.

Challenged NOSE Offense's product against my cat, a common NA hybrid with soft rabbit-soft fur. He has been a loyal cat, adopted him at a Last Chance Animal Shelter quite a few years ago as a kitten. We lived in a house and he would go outside in mom's flower garden to take care of that nature thing. Rarely did he use the litter box in the house. There was no odor issues.
Yet when our house foreclosed we ended up living in a small trailer. The smaller living quarters really brings out the various odors that seemingly don't exist in larger homes. Everyone that comes out of the bathroom was coughing and sneezing afterward, and the trail of the dreaded litter box smell drafts down the hallway... and I just cleaned the litter box!

Then the bottles of this magical concoction arrived severely mangled by the postal service. Open the box, read the instructions, and off to the bathroom for the real test!

Did it work? YES! IT WORKED!! I was in shock. Two sprays in the air, the litter box odor vanished. Three squirts inside the box (overkill) and could only smell the bathroom. Impossible!
Stuck my head inside the box, could only smell the litter. Yes, that was a bit extreme, yet I was out to test this product and over the coarse of two weeks I did just that.

People test: Purposely did not clean out the litter box for a couple of days. Really was expecting the feline pollution to getting heavy, yet every morning would walk in and spray two times. Company comes over, they use the bathroom and come out. No coughing, sniffling, sneezing heard. So I'm sitting here taking notes and grinning like an opossum.

Family test: three days, two sprays in the morning. Ask the family if they noticed anything different. Nope, they look at my hair. Nothing. So I ask them, did you smell the litter box? Puzzled looks on their faces. "Nooo... ".

Cat test: So I cleaned the litter box and found that NOSE Offense works on static odors. The stuff down in the cat litter, gah, had to go grab the mask and clean the box. Get done, two sprays and can breathe freely again in a few seconds (15 to 25). Clean the lid, and put it back on.

I'm sitting here writing some notes I wanted to discuss with Marvin Rembo, and asked for a few more samples to hand out to the local Veterinarians & the local pet adoption center.
Dusty comes in, put his paw on arm and meows. Never seen this action before. Petted him, he's looking at me funny, and I walked into the bathroom. Sure enough he bombed the place again. Two squirts, odor is gone. Come back to finish my letter, cat is purring.

For Me, NOSE Offense works! Relatives, they think it works (of coarse their pets don't stink you know), Family says it works. Cat is telling me when to use it, so it must work!

NOSE Offense does what it is advertised to do. Removes pet odor.

Now I wished I could carry a personal bottle with me when I visit my relatives, the ones that think their pets don't stink, ha! Times like this I wished NOSE Offense was in soap form! One of these day I'll learn to carry rubber gloves with me because their dogs S T I N K !
Would like to see NOSE Offense in a liquid soap, as pet litter, as an air freshener for the car, and most of all a Personal Spray bottle. Oh, and refill bottles so as to cut down on the waste of the manual squirters.

Takes a lot for a product to impress me. When one functions like is claimed, and it does first time out of the box, then it deserves my highest recommendation. NOSE Offense gets my highest ranking, and support of their product. My Family, Relatives, Cat, and Myself thank Marvin Rembo for giving us our home back!

PS: NOSE Offense doesn't work on my sneakers. Still have to cover them beasts up at night!

More Test Results Coming Soon

Decided to try amateur astronomy after working out a deal with some friends to get an Edmund Scientific's Astroscan telescope. Seen the first one when was almost high school in 1979. Have wanted one over the past 30 years, ye the company just isn't giving me the information I wanted. Read a lot of reviews over time, will see if it's the real deal. It should arrive sometime the day after tomorrow.

Been preparing, trying to locate the perfect night vision flashlight that will be astronomy friendly. Tried out two flashlights, first one failed left and right as a night vision light. The second one is a product so new it just rolled out at Wally's World - it's not even found online yet.
As always, I give each of the products I test a fair evaluation before posting my impressions. This latest flashlight seems to be a winner, and it even tracks blood. Okay, this is good for trackers or if you hurt yourself at night and don't want to ruin your night sight. It's also a good light to see what you're doing without being annoying to others.

Have yet another Leatherman flashlight review coming up, the Serac S3. Haven't managed to wear the battery down yet! That's a good thing. Leatherman wasn't able to locate a Serac S1, so cannot get the entire line up reviewed. These are the real gold contact lights, with longer battery lives and lots of power from such a small package. These beat Leatherman's newer lights to shame.

A couple of sporks will be announced, everyone should have at least one spork in their survival pack, yes? One broke, and the manufacturer sent two out as replacements - one's rather large too. The other is titanium, and also threw out a bone to Leatherman on an idea I had for their Juice models. Will post that soon too.

Finally challenged Nose Offense on their product. Have a cat that likes to make his presence known - more so after we moved from a normal house into a tight quartered trailer home. Then there are my socks, ewww.
Will see if Nose Offense will send me a small sample good for a couple of uses, and will post my honest results on that product. Otherwise I'll have to work out a deal without more friends to acquire a bottle of the magical stuff.

Just a heads up to let my followers know that I'm still alive. Putting a few products through the wringer; sometimes it's more work than one might think.

Juice KF4

The Leatherman Juice KF4 was the right choice for many, is highly sought out (even still), and had a short production span of barely 3 years. The Juice Pro had the shortest lifespan of barely a year. Yet it seems for the tools, the size, and the Solar Yellow handles, the KF4 was and is the most loved of all Leatherman's Juice creations.

An enterprising individual has set up an online petition in hopes Leatherman will at least bring back the Juice KF4 for a short production time.

Many of Leatherman USA's facebook fans have been begging Leatherman to bring back the KF4. I've even suggested a KSF4 option here in the Discussion forum. There's even a well laid out and picture heavy visual tour of the KF4 over at MultiTool.org. Really suggest everyone go look at the excellent review.

So while it may seem like this issue is not a big deal, it is a big deal to those of us who missed out on a tool that can fill our niche today! Combined with the leather sheath this would look smart in the business world too, more so with my idea of the KSF4.

In hoping this individual is legitimate, I am endorsing his petition to BRING BACK THE KF4 is some form or fashion, even if for a limited run.

I love my Voltaic's solar bag. I did my research and this bag truly works. It is designed as an all inclusive solar bag to charge portable handheld devices like cell phones, my ipod, or my digital camera. It looks great and I get stopped all the time by people asking me how it works. Great attention to detail! This bag comes with a powerful solar cell, a rechargeable battery for power whenever I need it, and adaptor tips to plug my Ipod, cell phone and any other thing I can think of.

Other solar bag makers don't come with a battery, or don't include adaptor tips, so they sell for less, but they require you to spend more money for less value. I also like that these bags are made out of recycled plastic soda bottles!

Cannot rate it since I do not have one on hand to review.

Leatherman Serac S2

Okay, sure, there is a lot of competition out there in the new LED flashlight world. The Fenix (Phoenix?) LD01 is better in some respects, yet the warranty isn't all that great. Reputation has yet to be founded for reliability too.

Leatherman has already been accredited as a caring and community supportive company, located in beautiful Portland, Oregon. They don't go throwing their labels on just anything, and the Serac line got my attention about, "ANY STRONGER AND YOU'D BLIND ALIENS!" caption.

The Serac line was expensive, yet if one looked under the hood they would see why.

Have used my Serac S2 before, during, and after our move. Only replaced the battery once, so far. 10.5 hours on the low setting from one AAA battery, and I've gotten better than 45 minutes high beam.

What is unique about this light is the clip can be attached backwards, and stuck onto the bill of a cap! Excellent hands-free headlamp for working at night (did a lot of that) and for walking the cat. (Don't ask)

The S2 is light, can fit into any of the Leatherman sheaths, although I personally recommend for comfort to only using in the Large Premium Sheath for the medium to larger multi-tools. Have used mine in the house, fixing house fixtures, rummaging through the car, night-time walks, taking out the trash, amateur photography applications, night-lighting, and now carry it in a large premium sheath of my new Leatherman Vista - Soon my newly purchased black oxide Surge will arrive and I'll be switching it over to there.

I have to commend Leatherman for posting this on their website. So many other conscious companies should post similar preparedness pages on their sites too.
This so tells me that Leatherman does care about people more than money. Nevermind that Leatherman makes high quality tools that are in high demand and ate backed by a 25 year warranty - no receipt needed.

Aquitaine Sundial Ring

Since seeing this portable sundial in an Edmund Scientific catalog is was on my wishlist.

Eleanor of Aquitaine gave a sundial similar to this one to King Henry II of England. Henry would then know when to return from the hunt to visit her. Henry also had a facsimile of this sun dial made for Eleanor, yet was inlaid with diamonds and engraved with the words Carpe Diem (for “Seize the Day").

This particular ring dial was purchased from Edmund Scientific after a few years of wishing it was mine. It's part of my survival gear, and I wear it just about every day. I don't usually wear a watch since my wrists are large and just haven't found a comfortable watchband.

Every backpacker should have one of these in their gear, or a similar solar time-keeping device. Sure we can tell the approximate time and know when it's time to make camp, yet if your watch dies... !

As with ring sun dials, (also known as an Aquitaine or a perforated ring dial), the ring is hung vertically and oriented sideways towards the sun. A beam of light passes through a small hole in the ring and falls on hour-curves that are inscribed on the inside of the ring. The hole is usually on a loose ring within the ring so that the hole can be adjusted to reflect the current month and give accurate time.
Basic Instructions:

Adjust the hole ( -o- ) the the current month.
Suspend the ring dial so the hole faces towards the sun.
A small bead of sunlight will appear on a number on the inside of the ring showing the hour.
For those in Daylight Savings Time you'll need to add one hour, or accept the time as "solar time".

This particular dial does well, although I am finding it's not always the exact time - it's really close. Am hoping to find a better made solar ring dial to review and test with. For now, this is an EDC item.

Solar Tea: Golden Harvest Beverage Tapper (1 gal.)

Bought this neat Sun Tea making device from D&B Supply in Ontario, Oregon. Actually bought two, as I'm trying to cut back on sodas and drink tea instead.

This is a very well designed basic solar tea maker. While using one, the other is outside making more solar tea.

The handle of course won't support the weight of the jar when full, it does allow one to grab and steady the container while hand transporting it. Wished the handle itself would fold over to the pouring end to allow a more secure closure of the spout's lid.

Although this is a great, economical container for making sun tea and other beverages, it does lack one feature I seen right off - and not seen on similar containers; there's no plastic insert to allow one to loosely add other items or various tea bags.
Instead of hanging tea bags over the jar edge and tightening the lid, which works well, what if someone wanted to add lemon, orange peels, cloves, etc. into the mix? There's no plastic insert that slides into the jar to hold various items & keep them from floating around freely. Ever try fishing out items you've added, or fetching several tea bags that came loose from the strings?
And the lid is made of plastic, shouldn't been too much to have created a plastic insert as well.

Perhaps someone will make a Solar Beverage Container that has such an insert? If you make such a device, please send me one to review - or tell me where to order two.

Rating 3 out of 5. Why? It's does what it needs to, that's about it. No in-jar accessory to add other items to the mix. The spout cover lifts up with ease, no locking tab, and the handle is more for empty use.

Okay, used the blog originally for a college web design course. That's been a few years back, and rather than redesign another blog and change all the settings... just decided to redesign this blog and save wasted space on Google's servers.

It's been a while, and the Many Happy Returns - Boomerang Portal website is next thing to being done.

Had to comb over and add "™" all over the place; added favicons from a boomerang I made myself™, debating on whether to change one photo for a new picture of one sent to me today; spell checking completed; hover and a few other minor styles added; most outside URLs sent to their own windows now - saves focus on the Many Happy Returns portal; added photos to the How To Throw page; Max Max™ photo snippet snuck in that I took using a Sony™ camera; brief descriptions of the contests were decided upon, due to possible changes in the rules by the governing™ committees™; and other small changes.

The forms page however is not functioning due to technical issues™. This is the last issue (that I am aware of) stopping the project from being completed.

Finals project is slowly coming together. Cropped some old 1980's photos, sent out emails for permissions to use graphics. Working more on the project this weekend. I am expecting the final project to be nearly completed by next weekend thanks to the Thanksgiving Holiday giving us Friday off too!

Stuck on the how to throw a boomerang safely, as my personal graphics are icky. Will just have to wait and see. Waiting for permission on some graphics to alleviate this one issue.

In the Dreamweaver 8 text book for Web Development I class, on Page DRM 213 will stop you dead in your tracks if using Abobe Dreamweaver CS3. Why? There is no Format Table anywhere in the program, or in the Help.

Every other X HTML editor out there has the ability to edit the Table format, but why did Adobe drop the ball?

All is not lost, here is an unofficial fix:

Close Dreamweaver.
Take three files: Format Table.htm, Format Table.js, & tableFormats.js? from DreamWeaver 2004 (or later).
Or... Download them from:
http://rapidshare.com/files/66459615/Format_Table_for_DreamWeaver.zip.html
Copy the three files to your Adobe Dreamweaver CS3\configuration\Commands
Example:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS3\configuration\Commands
Next navigate down to \Adobe Dreamweaver CS3\configuration\Menu
Example:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS3\configuration\Menus
Find a file named "menus.xml" and copy it, then paste back into same folder. This should create a backup copy called "Copy of menus.xml".
Now you have to edit the menu.xml file either in a text program or another program such as I used, FrontPage 2000.
If you use Dreamweaver, make sure you exit out after saving. I did not use Dreamweaver to edit the file, Notepad or Notepad2 would be a better bet, to save possible errors.
Now you use the Find feature, and search for this entire string:
file="Commands/Sort Table.htm" id="DWMenu_Commands_SortTable"
Copy the next string I will provide, and insert it right after the above string in one line:
menuitem name="Format Table" file="Commands/Format Table.htm" id="DWMenu_Commands_FormatTable" / ((Left out the < >, otherwise blog won't post. See screen shot below for accuracy.))
Save the menu.xml file, and reload Dreamweaver.
You should now see the Format Table as a menu item under the Commands menu.

Note: When I went to copy the three files over, one already existed and I did not over-write it. I left the one file there alone. And I can still use the Format Table option.

I was not the creator of the fix for this file, just found the fix through some lengthy searching on Google, and use different keywords in the search.

Currently figuring a suitable ESS, gathering text data, and finding photos. Unable to locate a participant that knows about boomerangs. I did order a tripod to help me take photographs of flying boomerangs.

Still trying to find a suitable External Style Sheet that can add some color to white text. Thinking of a maroon on green, or vice versa.

Been bogged down with essays and reading. Have more on my plate this week then I had anticipated at college. Economics test on Thursday, and an English test on Friday. Essay for English is a day late (if I can get it done tonight) and 45 pages to summarize for Teamwork Dynamics on Friday. - So much for going to the Pajama Jam on Wednesday evening, too much work to have some sort of fun. :(

TVCC: Final Project Update - Stage I

The initial pages have been created, table format created. CSS is under design, as we just went over CSS this week in class. Permission has been granted from the main supplier of the product, to use any of their information I want providing I give them rights to all items used.

I have entertained the thought of using some roll-over graphics for navigation. Dreamweaver does not seem to have any templates, however I can create some from FrontPage and should be able to port them over.

No pages have been uploaded however, since there is no data on them, nor any graphics, and the logo is still under production.

Here was the mid-term project to be coded from Notepad. Although I chose to use NotePad2, as it color coordinates the sections of code.

I was considering a few possible topics for final site ideas. Figured it was best to keep the project on an idea that I have some insight in. So here are my ideas, in order of thought:

Boomerangs - I been involved in since I was a sophomore in high school.
Australia - Interest since high school days.
Computer; Input Devices - Have used quite a few in my days. I'm a connoisseur.
Do Animals Have Souls? - A personal subject that has crossed paths with others, or made me cross over it. (Yes, I do believe animals have souls.)
Suzuki Esteem Fan Club - I have one, have a few resources, still learning.
Space: The Great Vacuum of Exploration - Could run over topics of things going on in space, although this could pose issues with theme consistency. The idea is really over done.

My top two personal choices are:

Boomerangs - I'm not an expert, although I know a few that are, the world over.
or
Do Animals Have Souls? - Might be a challenge of my talents. I have no clear-cut ideas on how to convey the idea, yet might be fun trying.
